Scammers circulate a new scam on Facebook practically every day. Most of these scams aim to get users to reveal personal information or click on links that will install malware on their computers. Facebook has attempted to crack down on these scams, but they remain problematic.

First, look at the most common signs of a Facebook Scam.

-The message looks too good to be true. For example, the message might promise a free iPad if you click the link.

• -The message includes a link that doesn’t belong to Facebook.
• -The message asks for personal information, such as your password or credit card number.
• -The message includes an attachment, such as a photo or video.

Don’t open attachments you don’t know because they could contain viruses.

-The sender is asking for money.

Steps to take if you are a Victim of a Scam

People often don’t want to believe they’ve been scammed, yet scammers are adept at their craft, making everything appear legitimate. If you suspect you’ve been scammed, here are some proactive steps you can take to report it.

• First, gather all of the evidence you have. This includes emails, receipts, or any other documentation that can help support your case.
• Second, contact the authorities. Depending on where you live, this might involve contacting the police department, the FBI, or another relevant agency.
• Third, contact the company or individual that was scammed. Let them know what happened and provide as much information as possible.
• Finally, spread the word. Warn your friends and family about the scam and help keep others from becoming victims.

How to Report to Facebook.

To Report it to Facebook, find the scam post or message. It may be in your newsfeed, or it may be in a group that you’re a member of.

Next, click the three dots in the post’s top right corner and select “Report post.”

You’ll see several options for reporting the post. First, select “It’s spam or scam.”

Facebook will review the post and take appropriate action.
