Why is Costco Kirkland Frozen Beef Lasagna a winner?
Reading the ingredients in Costco Kirkland Frozen Beef Lasagna really sparked my interest. I have tried many different frozen lasagnas. I accepted for a long, long time that there were only two ways to get lasagna. Cook it yourself or find someone who can cook it for you.
As a picky eater, it is hard to find premade meals that I do not have to deconstruct. Cooking is also a challenge, and all the ingredients have to be perfect. One example is onions. I love the smell and taste but cannot get past the texture. I chop my onions very small or, even better, run them through the blender. That is just one ingredient, and I am just as fussy as all the others.
Go to a restaurant… A very convenient but expensive option. I had my favorite restaurants while I lived in NYC. Now that I live in Nevada, I have yet to find a place.
I could not help myself.
When I noticed Costco Kirkland Frozen Beef Lasagna, I started to walk away, but something made me stop and look at the ingredients.
Whole Milk Mozzarella and whole Milk ricotta stood out to me, and I had to see for myself. Now, if you are a picky eater like me, you may be scared away by the rest of the ingredients due to fear of texture issues, as I almost did.
Find out what ingredients made me say I have to try Costco Kirkland Frozen Beef Lasagna
Definitely worth every penny and every bite.
So at the risk of wasting money on food I may not want to eat, I went ahead and purchased Costco Beef Lasagna and rushed home to try it. I was amazed and happy with the outcome. It was tasty and no texture issues at all. I love lots of cheese, and I was prepared to add a little extra during the last 10 minutes of baking but found that it needed nothing extra at all. It was perfect, just the way it was.
You also get a lot. I had a lot leftover that I stored in the fridge in individual portions, and the leftovers were just as tasty. So overall, I give Costco Kirkland Beef Lasagna an A++ for overall taste and texture.
It took two hours to bake, which was very long but well worth the wait. Knowing that it can take me hours to make it the way I like it made waiting for the lasagna more than worth it. The Kirkland Frozen Beef Lasagna comes in a foil tray with a foil cover, so it is that easy. It is not microwaveable at all. The leftover portions were easily microwaved the next day. It is not small if you are cooking for just two people you will have lots of leftovers.
I have been buying one or the other of the 2 frozen lasagna options by Kirkland from Costco for a couple years now. The smaller trays (in a 2 pack of 3 lbs. each) include ground sausage. It is very tasty and has a little spice heat to it. I actually prefer the larger 6 lb. pan of the beef lasagna which is even tastier with an incredibly good sauce. The cooking directions are detailed and easy to follow, so follow them. When ready, the top has been slightly browned and the entire pan is bubbling. Let it sit out for 12 minutes to firm up before cutting and service. I grated extra parmigiana reggiano over it. I placed the remaining portions in plastic storage containers for the refrigerator and I’ll work my way through them for lunch or dinner. I am a fairly picky Italian-American and these Costco brand trays are a great buy.
I agree very tasty. A bit pricey but when you compare it to a dinner out for a family of three it can seem reasonable. Thank you for your comment.
Pricey? Not at all. Have you seen the price of Lasagna at say Olive Garden? Even the Walmart price is more. Cooking it as I am typing, but I can almost say I know its gonna be better than Stouffers!!!
I live in Geneseo NY & would like to know what stores have this Kirkland Beef Lasagna & where I can buy this close by ????
I used to live in NYC and Live now in Las Vegas. I did notice a big difference between what is available in the west and the east. I would call your local store and ask if it is carried there. Sometimes I find pizza in the frozen fish section. They should be able to tell you where you can find it. Thank you for your comment and let us know if you do find it. Thank you again.
You can fin them in the Costco stores, but generally need a membership (or 1-day pass).
we always bought kirkland beef lasagna in the Brighton Michigan store but we don’t see it any more, we don’t like the beef and sausage twin ok. Our they going to bring it back? Hope so!
Great price, no taste! I can’t believe what I am reading in reviews!! Absolutely no taste, very disappointed!! Looks good, but has zero flavor. I have a pan to give away because I won’t eat the rest.
Mine is still cold after cooking for 2 hours !! Anyone else have this problem??
No taste?? VERY TASTY – probably the best frozen I’ve ever had – Perhaps your taste buds aren’t working! We just tried the twin (3lb ea) pack with beef and sausage – it was great. Will definitely buy again.
I bought a beef lasagna from Costco which says”previously frozen” can I refreeze cook t?
I have never tried to refreeze but I did store it in the fridge for a couple of days and reheated and it was still good.
I had high hopes. I’m 62 and know how to cook. This is okay but I won’t buy it again. I’m spoiled from years. This will get you by for a hot meal but it’s nothing like homemade v
Hey Mary thank you so much for the comment. I agree with you there is nothing like homemade. This was the first frozen lasagna I have bought in years. The frozen lasagnas normally are not very good and this one seems to be taking a step in a good direction, but it will never beat homemade. Thank you again for reading my post. Sorry for the late response.
